Joy Vs. Pleasure Did you know there’s a difference between joy and pleasure? Joy is something that you feel inside of you and pleasure is something that you receive from an external source. Pleasure is usually packaged in a box of sorts and you pay for it. It’s something like a great glass of wine, good food, a massage, or engaging in something that you really enjoy. Joy is something that comes from within. I feel joy myself when thinking about my four adult children and how three of them are in college and one has graduated - I think about how they’re really doing well, adjusted, and are in a happy place. That brings me a warm fuzzy feeling of joy. Joy is generally a blessing. So as we enter into the holidays and are surrounded by our loved ones, capture the joy that you feel inside. Pleasures are great. Sprinkle some pleasures on top of joy and that is the best combination, but too much pleasure can lead to other negative things. Be aware of that and Happy Holidays. Wishing you an amazing week. Doreen Yaffa Board Certified Marital & Family Attorney, Life Coach Want to receive our Monday Message email? Sign up here: https://lnkd.in/eBHk-34

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a divorce take in Florida?

In Florida, an uncontested divorce can be finalized in as little as 3–4 weeks, while a contested divorce may take 6 months to over a year depending on the complexity of the case and the court's schedule.

Do I need a lawyer to get divorced in Florida?

While Florida law does not require you to hire an attorney, having an experienced family law attorney significantly improves your chances of achieving a fair outcome, especially in complex cases involving assets, children, or spousal support.

How is property divided in a Florida divorce?

Florida follows the principle of equitable distribution, meaning marital assets and debts are divided fairly — though not always 50/50. Courts consider factors such as the length of the marriage, each spouse's financial contributions, and future earning capacity.

What is the first step in filing for divorce in Florida?

The first step is filing a Petition for Dissolution of Marriage with the circuit court in your county. You'll also need to serve your spouse with the petition and financial affidavits. Consulting an attorney before filing helps ensure you protect your rights from the start.
