Failing is the Key to Reaching Your Goal As we start the new year, let's secure a big goal and embrace the willingness to fail in order to reach this goal. If you stay in your comfort zone, your achievements in life and your world becomes small and expected. When you open yourself up to doing the impossible and going for your goals, you will inevitably fail. Failing is part of achieving your goal - there is no way of escaping it. Babies are great examples of failing forward. A baby who is learning to walk will fall time and again until they are walking and eventually running. This also applies to us as we pursue our goals. Starting a new career, getting a degree, running a marathon, golfing, making a million dollars, writing a book, and getting out of a bad marriage can all happen in your life when you are willing to open yourself up to failure. It took Thomas Edison over 1000 tries to invent the lightbulb. What if he gave up on number 700 or 800? Failure is a step. When a reporter asked Edison, “How did it feel to fail 1,000 times?” He replied I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The lightbulb was an invention with 1,000 steps.” You can use each failure to learn and grow and get closer to your goal or you can give up and hide. Instead of looking at your 79th golf game as a failure, look at it as the practice you need to improve for a better game next time. Don’t let a bad game shut you down. Keep trying and failing forward towards reaching your goal. Anyone that has accomplished a big goal has encountered failures before success. It’s just the way it works. In fact, what is even sadder than failure is staying in your comfort zone and not being the best version of yourself and all that could have been. So why not go for it? Wishing you an amazing week.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a divorce take in Florida?

In Florida, an uncontested divorce can be finalized in as little as 3–4 weeks, while a contested divorce may take 6 months to over a year depending on the complexity of the case and the court's schedule.

Do I need a lawyer to get divorced in Florida?

While Florida law does not require you to hire an attorney, having an experienced family law attorney significantly improves your chances of achieving a fair outcome, especially in complex cases involving assets, children, or spousal support.

How is property divided in a Florida divorce?

Florida follows the principle of equitable distribution, meaning marital assets and debts are divided fairly — though not always 50/50. Courts consider factors such as the length of the marriage, each spouse's financial contributions, and future earning capacity.

What is the first step in filing for divorce in Florida?

The first step is filing a Petition for Dissolution of Marriage with the circuit court in your county. You'll also need to serve your spouse with the petition and financial affidavits. Consulting an attorney before filing helps ensure you protect your rights from the start.
