Why Life Coaching and Divorce?
A well-known celebrity therapist recently shared that based on his own experience, except for a few masters, we are all suffering and on this journey of healing while trying to figure out what that looks like.
When I decided to become a life coach, I was searching for something that made sense. I was coached for years before I decided to actually become a coach. I thought that by being a trained life coach I would be able to offer my clients more than just legal representation.
I also worried some people would not take it, or me, seriously. All this talk about things like:
Our thoughts lead to feelings; which lead to action (or inaction;) and directly create our results. The magic is that we can control our thoughts and change everything and create anything we want and live a happier existence.
Yeah crazy stuff, but true.
Then I wondered if people might see it as an odd combination – board certified marital and family lawyer and life coach. I finally said, “Doreen, this is your own thought and quite frankly who cares. Those are the people you likely won’t attract anyhow.”
Isn’t being too concerned about what other people might think or say the exact reason that many of us don’t go after our dreams?
There are so many missed opportunities and lost passions wasted. I decided that would not be me.
There are hundreds and likely thousands of people that have been affected by divorce. These individuals can gain great insight and healing by applying what I learned as a life coach.
My goal isn’t just to practice family law, it’s always been to help people get through the divorce on many levels including helping their minds. I believe that having been the child victim of divorce and going through my own divorce (and still being friends with my ex), I am a living example of what divorce can really look like.
You can take all that heartache and disappointment mind set (thought) and refocus. You can clean out your mind and use it as an opportunity to flourish into a really great life.
That’s why I started these Monday Morning Messages. A little family law with a lot of life coaching thoughts to share.
Stay healthy in mind and body.
